THC edibles selecting an edible for relaxation, you’ll typically want to choose one made with Indica-dominant strains. Indica strains are known for their calming, sedative effects that help quiet racing thoughts and ease muscle tension. The key is to look closely at the labeling to see if the edible contains an Indica-leaning strain like Granddaddy Purple, Northern Lights, or Bubba Kush.

    Edibles with CBD

THC produces the “high” feeling; CBD is the compound in cannabis that offers calming effects. Edibles formulated with a combination of THC and CBD enhance relaxation by tempering the psychoactive effects of THC while amplifying its soothing properties. A 1:1 ratio of THC to CBD is a good balance for relaxation. But if you’re very sensitive to THC’s effects, an edible with a higher CBD ratio like 3:1 or 5:1 may work even better.

    Consider edibles with CBN

CBN or cannabinol is another compound in cannabis that emerges as thc edibles oxidizes over time. High levels of CBN make you feel sleepy and sedated. So edibles infused with this compound are ideal for right before bedtime. The issue is that CBN levels are usually low in fresh cannabis. Exposure to oxygen over time increases CBN, so look for edibles made from older cannabis to get the highest CBN content.

    Lower dose edibles are best

While a large dose edible like 100 mg may sound fun, you’re less likely to feel calm and relaxed and more likely to experience some paranoia. It is especially true if you don’t have much tolerance built up. For relaxation, your best bet is to stick to a low-dose edible in the range of 5-15 mg of THC. It will provide a gentle high that helps release tension without making you feel out of control.

    Full-Spectrum edibles

Full-spectrum edibles preserve a wide array of beneficial cannabis compounds like terpenes, rather than just isolating the THC. It creates an “entourage effect” that some users report enhances the relaxation and medicinal benefits. The diversity of terpenes and other compounds work synergistically to produce more well-rounded effects compared to THC alone. So consider trying full-spectrum edibles for maximum relaxing benefits.

    Pick something sweet and delectable

Luscious chocolate, sweet gummy candies or sugar-coated baked goods all tickle your taste buds while delivering soothing cannabis high. Go for edibles in decadent flavors like salted caramel, peanut butter chocolate, or passion fruit that provide a little slice of indulgence.

Work your way up in dosage slowly

These are tips for new cannabis users when selecting edibles. Because ingesting THC leads to a much stronger and longer-lasting high than smoking, it’s essential to start low and go slow. Begin with no more than 2.5-5 mg and wait at least two hours before considering taking more. Increase your dosage incrementally over several sessions until you find your optimal amount for relaxation. Consuming too much THC too quickly via edibles be an unpleasant experience.
